He indicated he needed to close the former business, the Sports World store, because a new America Big Box store which recently opened just outside the city was taking all his business; it undercut prices on sports equipment to an impossibly low level. He also complained that although schoolkids regularly came to his store to ask for donations for their teams, they seldom came to buy anything.

He said his new bookstore business is doing quite well. He reassured you they sell no pornographic or illegal materials, although you did not have access to all the rooms inside the building. He said he would be willing to consider another business or a buyout if the right incentives were offered, but gave no firm promises.
